Acupuncture
Acupuncture is one of the oldest, most commonly used medical procedures in the world. Originating in China more than 2000 years ago, acupuncture became widely known in the United States in 1971 when New York Times reporter James Reston wrote about how doctors in Beijing, China, used needles to ease his abdominal pain after surgery. Research shows that acupuncture is beneficial in treating a variety of health conditions.
In the past two decades, acupuncture has grown in popularity in the United States. In 1993, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) estimated that Americans made 9 to 12 million visits per year to acupuncture practitioners and spent as much as $500 million on acupuncture treatments. By the year 2000 an estimated 20,000 nationally certified acupuncturists were practicing in the United States.
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has funded a variety of research projects on acupuncture that have been awarded by its National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM), National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, National Institute of Dental Research, National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, and National Institute on Drug Abuse.

Traditional Chinese Medicines
Western Herbalists primarily treat disease or symptoms, such as headaches, runny nose, constipation, PMS, etc. Chinese Herbal Medicine is based on an individualized pattern diagnosis as well as a disease diagnosis. Your customized herbal prescription is designed to treat your symptom or disease as well as your individual pattern. The pattern is made up of your signs, symptoms, emotional temperament and bodily constitution.
Single herbs or groups of herbs, such as you will find in Western Herbology are less powerful than taking a carefully designed Chinese herbal formula, including from 6 to 18 herbs working synergistically to address your main symptoms as well as your constitution.

Aquatic Massage
Watsu is a form of aquatic bodywork created as a synthesis of water and Zen Shiatsu (Japanese therapeutic massage), thus the term “Watsu”. It incorporates the stretches of Shiatsu in a 94 degree Fahrenheit water environment. The recipient is held and floated in the water and moved through a series of gentle stretches and rotations. The warmth and continuous support provided by water is ideal for promoting deep relaxation and for freeing the joints and muscles of the body from the compressive and constrictive effects of gravity.
The physical benefits of Watsu include a reduction in muscle guarding and tension, thus reducing muscle spasm and pain. This is a relief otherwise not experienced by people with chronic pain. Because Watsu is multidimensional, it can also be used in conjunction with medical treatments, physical therapy and psychological intervention depending on the particular training of the practitioner.
Adaptive Watsu
In addition to providing the benefits of Watsu, Adaptive Watsu pays special attention and provides additional flotation and support to the most vulnerable parts of the musculo-skeletal system; the neck, joints, and lower back, thus providing an ideal therapeutic environment for people with chronic injuries and special needs.
Who can benefit from Watsu? People with:
Stress/Tension
Muscle Spasticity
Muscle Guarding
Limited Range of Motion
Chronic Pain

Crane Style Chi Gong
Crane Style Chi Gong is a fluid set of meditative excursuses, much like T’ai Chi, based on the flowing movements of the Crane. It combines breathing techniques, simple body movements and mental imagery to guide the smooth flow of energy throughout the body and mind. It was originally developed for the purpose of stretching and strengthening the body to prevent disease and to rid the body and mind of stress.
Crane Style Chi Gong is easy to learn for all ages. With correct and persistent practice, it can increase your energy, increase metabolism, relieve stress and tension, improve mental concentration and clarity, release emotional strain and restore general well being.
Quit Smoking Program
Andra Millian L.Ac. of AUSTIN ONSITE ACUPUNCTURE has 2 programs to help you beat the smoking habit:
Many smokers who are trying to quit benefit from extra help. Full body Acupuncture and Herbal Supplementation Therapy can aid in relaxation and detoxification.
1) COMPREHENSIVE QUIT SMOKING PROGRAM involves twice weekly visits for two weeks where traditional acupuncture points and herbal supplements help you deeply relax, curb cravings and detox the lung tissue. This state is prolonged and leads to a lessening of cravings for nicotine and other drugs, giving you the extra time you may need to create a new habit - NOT SMOKING! (Lifestyle recommendations, herbal therapy and written materials included in this program)
2) The QUICK QUIT TO GO PROGRAM is a one time treatment that utilizes auricular (ear) acupuncture, where four to five very small, tack like needles are inserted into points corresponding to the lung, kidney and nervous system. It is thought that these needles increase the flow of endorphins, morphine-like hormones that induce a deep state of relaxation. These "ear tacks" are worn home (i.e."to go") and kept in the ear for up to two weeks.
